KPIs

CHALLENGE TO MODERN SPORT CLUB

INABILITY TO MONETIZE FAN BASE

Global Sports Sponsorships is estimated to be at $200 billion. Even with billions upon billions of sports fans worldwide, less than 1% of fans are actually successfully monetized.

GLOBAL FRAGMENTED FAN BASE

Each top league boasts hundreds of millions of global but fragmented fans but no platform has yet to be introduced to effectively unite them. This fragmentation leads to a lack of localized sponsorships.

DATA COLLECTION

Due to fragmentation of these fan bases, there is an inability to collect both real-time and fan-approved data. This leads to a lack of targeted marketing campaigns and poor engagement. There is a need for a digital platform that can unite all stakeholders in the sports industry.

Current Situation

The Club

The modern sports club is a complex business that faces multiple challenges. When someone's thinking about a sports club, the immediate association that comes to mind―is a huge stadium, packed with tens of thousands of cheering spectators, such as Barcelona, Manchester United or the New‐York Jets with dozens of employees involved in running the club. In more than 90 percent of sports clubs in the world this is not the situation. It does not mean that sports clubs are poor or impoverished organizations, but as most of their budget is allocated to players and coaches salaries (and transfers), the club's organization is a slim one, with multiple duties assigned to most of the employees. As a result, club management (as well as fan management) suffers.

The Fan

A sports club fan is a unique and special (and underappreciated commercially) case of customer. A fan will not change “product loyalty” and will not swap clubs if the team fails to win. A frustrated fan as of a painful defeat will return after several days to cheer for his beloved club and will continue to wear the club's colors. In most sports clubs (second and third tiers), the fan base is somewhat of a closed community and the numbers of fans grows slowly over the years in several ways such as friend brings a friend or father brings kids. First tier sports clubs (such as Barcelona, Manchester United or the New‐York Jets) are totally different. These days they are practically supper brands with fans all over the world running marketing campaigns that are much more intense and widespread. Fans are a major income generator of the sports club and practically fans are the name of the game. Their contribution to the club revenue stream is much more than the game ticket or season ticket price they pay. Broadcasting rights, sponsorship and the advertising contracts that are a major club income source are based on the number of spectators in the stadium. All the above means that fans are the core and precious asset of sports clubs and close relations with them are essential to sports clubs.
